Hush (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how Hush collects, uses, and protects your information as you use our aggressive focus tools.
2. Information We Access and Collect
Hush is designed to process as much data as possible locally on your device. However, certain advanced features require specific permissions or third-party integrations.
Local Device Permissions
Hush utilizes the following to enforce your focus sessions:
- App Usage Data (locally): Used to monitor app usage and enforce limits.
- Accessibility Services: Used to detect URLs in browsers to block specific websites and to identify the foreground app. No browsing history is stored or transmitted.
- Device Administrator Permission: Used exclusively for our “Stronger Strict Mode” to prevent the app from being uninstalled during an active focus session. This is an optional, user-initiated feature.
- Overlay Permissions: Used to display the blocking screen.
Advertising Identifiers
Hush includes an optional Penalty Ad feature. If you explicitly opt-in to view an ad as a friction tool, third-party advertising partners (such as Google AdMob) may collect your Android Advertising ID and device information to serve and measure the ad.
Optional Analytics
With your permission, we collect anonymous analytics (e.g., onboarding completion, number of monitored apps) to improve Hush. These do not include personally identifiable information.
3. Third-Party Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. Data is only shared with third parties in the following strictly defined scenarios:
- Penalty Ads: If you trigger an opt-in ad, device identifiers are shared with our ad partners to facilitate delivery.
- Service Providers: Anonymous analytics are processed by our secure analytics partners.
4. Data Security & Retention
All core usage and blocking data is stored locally on your device. We do not maintain a cloud database of your app usage. If you delete Hush, all local data is removed immediately.
5. User Control & Opt-Out
You have full control over the data Hush accesses:
- Analytics: Can be disabled at any time in the app settings.
- Strict Mode: Can only be disabled once your set focus goal is met or through your pre-configured bypass.
- Ads: You can reset your Advertising ID or opt-out of personalized ads via your Android System Settings.
6. Children's Privacy
Hush does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
